Let's take a look at the prophet Malachi. A contemporary of Nehemiah, he asked his countrymen a series of convicting questions designed to bring about repentance. But his pointed queries had no effect. So God eventually stop speaking and after Malachi, the nation received no further revelation from God until John the Baptist arrived on the scene some 400 years later.
Malachi reminds us that spiritual heart disease is slow but deadly. People who stop seeking God become discouraged and apathetic. Turning inward, they become self-absorbed and oblivious to God's voice. Though they may appear healthy on the outside because of their continuing religious activities, on the inside their hearts are becoming increasingly cold and hard. In time, their ugly symptoms of soul neglect will become obvious.
Don't be counted amongst those who succumb to spiritual heart disease. Through Malachi, let God examine your soul and prescribe what it needs most. It's quite obvious that God has prescribed us with the correct prescription for life. It's called the Bible, the word of God. The Lord says do not change or add to one word. I am very concerned that if our country doesn't start take a stand on the word of God that he might stop talking to us. We can't afford to lose the voice of God for a day. 400 years would be unthinkable. Remember, we are never without hope Jesus loves you.
