Being a real man is more than just being a conqueror. Many times as young man growing up we are taught by our elders exactly that. We live in a world that is teaching our children everything except what our Lord designed us for. We want to be strong men when we grow up in the world, and that's a good thing only we are focusing on the world that belongs to Satan. Hallelujah for when Jesus comes to take it back. Unfortunately most men are about the business of the world and not the business of the Lord. I thank God for the women who have held the church together for years. Where are the conquerors, the real men in the church today for God. We can't let the world raise our children up today, but yet the church seems to be empty of children, what's wrong with this picture.
A free man is an authentic man. An authentic men's view of himself and the world around him is consistent with reality, honesty, and accuracy. Therefore an authentic man is a " real man ". He is the genuine thing!
Jesus understood His emotions. When faced with the merchants and the money changers in the Temple He reacted with the appropriate anger [ John 2: 13-17 ]. The Bible says when faced with the death of Lazarus, "Jesus wept" [John 11: 35 ]. Authentic men need to cultivate their relationship with God. It's only natural for people to look to other people to meet their deepest emotional needs. The problem is, men can't ! Asking them to do so is like trying to draw water from a dry well. Men are not equipped to fill our emotional cup, only God can do that ! God gives us a sense of significance that we cannot give ourselves. Men need to cultivate their relationship with God drawing closer to Him daily and deepening on Him as they make decisions and handle the pressure of everyday life.
Real leaders reach out to others. They see a need and meet it. When someone is struggling, they are quick to lend a helping hand, an open heart, or a word of comfort and encouragement. They help people face their fears, conquering that doubt, and find their way. They are men who have experienced the challenges of life and who have partaken deeply in the well of spirituality.
Leaders are men who help others become leaders as well. They are disciples of men, women, and children. They are men who have experienced the grace of God in their own lives and want to pass it on to others. The apostle Paul told Timothy: you therefore, my son be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
Males are born; men are made. God uses the difficulties of men's lives to strengthen us so that we can better serve those who need our help and leadership. God's men need to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. This is not an exclusive list for all those characteristics for a godly man, but it's certainly is a good start. Men who seek to live this way in all areas of their life - work, family, church, friendship -will find true fulfillment and success.
It's time to know what a real man is. A man that put God first in his life. A man that puts his family next. A man that takes responsibility for his actions. A man who treats his wife like a Queen, treats his children as God has commanded, to love them and protect them with his life. As God has protected us with His son's life. Let us men today, show people what a real man is in the eyes of God. Plant that seed in a man and watch the world change. Remember always, you're never without hope, Jesus loves you. Rev. Rick Kimball, Men on Fire.
